Team Tar

Meet Team Tar (long A...as in Tara and Taryn). We have been bff since meeting on a study abroad program in London nearly three years ago. To get rid of a few extra pounds that we gained from a diet of hob nobs and cadbury chocolates (not to mention Tina's fabulous cooking!), we started going to spin classes together when we returned to Provo and haven't looked back since! Now, to transition from hard core spinners to legitimate hard core athletes, we are participating in a triathlon on Memorial Day in Austin, TX. I am into my third week of training so far and it's not quite as glamorous as I'd imagined. I feel as though my life is being taken over by workouts! With a full day of work and a 40-minute commute each way, there really isn't time for much else. The good news is that my body is not nearly as tired this week as it was last week...which is hopefully a good sign that I am making progress, as opposed to a bad sign that I'm slacking. I've got a long way to go, that's for sure; but, now that I've broadcasted through this post that Tara and I are doing it, there's no way out.

I am so excited for you guys- maybe someday I will have motivation to be athletic, let alone do a triathlon. tee hee.

I am a little jealous that girl is getting you down to Texas when I could not...

Go team! Good luck to you! If only my name began with a "TA..." would I join? probably not. :) but if you can't be an athlete, be an athletic supporter. (name that movie)

Love you girls!

Weird. I was just thinking about the BIathalon here at BYU in a few weeks. (they have several options- including one that is just a lap around campus...) I saw the lovely Tara on campus a couple days ago. Maybe I'll see her at spin tomorrow? If I go ;)

You guys are giving me way too much credit. It's no coincidence that I posted this information now...my training this week is killing me! Thus, so as not to back out of the big race, I had to make this commitment public knowledge. ;) I'm doing all this "training", but it's been too cold to run outside and I don't have a bike...so I'm not really getting the practice that I need yet.

Heid--not fair...I was going to come to TX on my way to VA last summer, remember? But you were in UT that weekend. Now I'm working on Reno, though.
Blythe--yes, Tara lives in TX...she is going to dental school in San Antonio, but is originally from Dallas. you sure can read our Team Tar blog--as long as you don't make fun. We thought that was the best way to feel like we were training together...or at least the best way to motivate each other remotely.
Lauren--Grease. C'mon, give me something that will make me have to think! p.s. maybe if your name started with "TAR"...then you would join, right?
Tess--Tara told me she saw you...she sounded so excited in her voicemail!
Beth--I will let you know as much as you want to about the process. For now I'm just going to lots of spin classes and trying to make running a more regular part of my routine. I'm going to have to get really serious about swimming pretty soon, or else we could have real problems!

Like the others, I am way impressed Taryn! Someday I would like to do a triathlon. I'm excited to hear about your experience along the way...maybe that will motivate me?

Didn't I tell you that I did a triathalon? Well, actually I only watched it on tv, which doesn't count, does it? I only ran in one 10K (didn't finish last); and of course, there's the 10K that Dad ran in where he upchucked immediately after crossing the finish line!
The last one I was going to run/walk in was on May 17, 1981. Sound familiar? Yes, as I got up to get ready for the event, my water broke and Lindsey arrived three hours later.

You inspire me! I had this one on my list to complete this year and somehow, someway I have got to do it! I would meet you in Austin, but we are going to Wicked that weekend in Denver! Next one you do...count me in!
